Fact
You forget most of a lecture within a day
Ebbinghaus's forgetting curve: retention drops sharply within 24 hours, then flattens. Spacing and retrieval are what bend it.
The practical consequence is unglamorous. Re-reading feels like studying and does very little. Closing the book and trying to say the thing out loud feels like failing and does most of the work.
