NASA uses only fifteen decimal places of pi

JPL uses 3.141592653589793 for interplanetary navigation. With 15 decimals, a circle 47 billion kilometres across could be computed to an accuracy of roughly a centimetre. The trillions of digits computed since are a test of computing power, not a practical need.
