There are more trees on Earth than stars in the Milky Way
Roughly three trillion trees. Perhaps a few hundred billion stars.
A 2015 global survey using satellite data and ground plots estimated 3.04 trillion trees – about eight times previous estimates. The Milky Way is thought to contain somewhere between 100 and 400 billion stars. The same study estimated human activity has removed roughly 46 per cent of trees since the start of civilisation.
