Your brain edits out the moment your eyes move

You are blind for roughly two hours of every waking day, and you have never once noticed it.

Every time your eyes flick from one point to another – a saccade – vision is suppressed so you do not perceive the blur. The brain then stitches the before and after together and backdates the new image, which is why a stopped clock’s second hand seems to hang too long when you first glance at it. Add all those gaps up across a day and it comes to hours of missing footage you have no memory of.
