Bilingual people make colder moral choices in their second language
The same dilemma, the same person, a different answer - depending on the language it was posed in.
Presented with moral dilemmas in a foreign language they know well, people become measurably more willing to accept harming one to save several. The leading explanation is reduced emotional resonance: a second language keeps a certain distance, and that distance shifts the judgement.
