Cats cannot taste sweetness
The gene for it is broken in every cat, from housecat to tiger.
All cats carry a defective version of the Tas1r2 gene needed for sweet receptors. As obligate carnivores they have no dietary need to detect sugars. If your cat likes ice cream, it is responding to fat and dairy, not sweetness.
