Axolotls regrow limbs, organs and parts of their brain

Axolotls can regenerate whole limbs including bone, muscle and nerve, plus portions of heart, spinal cord and brain, with little scar tissue. They also remain in a larval form throughout life. Understanding why mammals cannot do the same is a major line of regenerative medicine research.
